Old Metal Militia: Orcland Raiders

I've finished another of the Blood Bowl teams for my league: the Orcland Raiders. After a team of the AFC conference (the Elfheim Eagles), I decided to paint one of the NFC conference. And of course, the next painted team will be again an AFC' one (could be the Reikland Reavers, we'll see).

This team is one of the most successful, it has reached the Blood Bowl final twice and won it twice (2469 and 2483). Sitting in the same division as the Dwarf Giants, the great rivalry between these two teams will make sure that the head of the division will be disputed.

Normally, this team should be composed of Orcs only, but as I plan to have The Gouged Eye solely composed of Orcs, I decided to mix goblinoid races in the Orcland Raiders team. So it will include an Ogre and some Goblins.

This would be particularly interesting for tactic variations: aside the standard rushing and passing actions, throwing team-mates (Ogre throwing Goblin catchers) would be an alternate tactic (provided of course that the Goblin is safe after its landing). In 2nd edition, the Goblin Catchers have all the Right Stuff skill and the Ogre has Throw Team-Mate for free. That's a good opportunity to try and surprise the opposing team with the flying Goblin tactic.

I painted 21 minis to allow for flexibility in the team composition: 1 Ogre Blocker, 2 Orc Throwers, 1 Orc Catcher, 3 Orc Blitzers, 5 Orc Linemen, 1 Orc Kicker, 4 Orc Blockers (actually, one is a Black Orc but as they don't exist in the 2nd edition, it will stand for a Blocker star player), 2 Goblin Catchers and 2 Goblin Linemen.

This is a mix of 2nd and 3rd edition minis. The 3rd edition minis have all the team symbol sculpted on their shoulder pad, so I keep most of the 2nd edition Orc minis for the other Orc team, The Gouged Eye.
