The Battle of East-Loren - Turn 1

Dwarfs - Turn 1

Once his troops are in position, King Brokk Ironpike doesn't wait a single second more and launches the assault. With a roaring battle cry, the Dwarf warriors, in massed ranks, march to meet their ancestral enemies as fast as their short legs allows them to.

Dwarven war machines launch their deadly projectiles on the Elven lines:

The Dwarf cannon fires...

... and causes the first casualty of the battle (a wood rider).

The Dwarf stone thrower aims at the lord's bowmen...
... and lands bang on target, killing six Wood Elves!
Then, the wizards start casting. The Ogre shaman, Azigg "Fireclaw" launches a Fireball on the wardancers unit and kills one of them. Burlok "The Wise" casts Arrow Invulnerability on the Dwarf crossbowmen (skirmishers) who advance in front of the dwarven line.

Azigg's Fireball kills one Wardancer.

Wood Elves - Turn 1

On the right flank, the Wood Elves realize that the Dwarfs facing them (the Bugman's and the longbeards) have no intention to progress and engage in hand-to-hand combat. So, they decide to move forward and get to short range in order to maximize their superior firepower.

Sirwing Feathermoon and Torgaliel Shadowsong take off to fly over the Ogre mercenaries, high enough so that the Ogres cannot hit them.

While flying over the Ogres, Sirwing Feathermoon bends his longbow and shoots an arrow at the organ gun crew, killing one of its members.

An archers unit, the lord's bowmen and the guards, led by Skarloc, shoot at the Ogres and cause (only) one wound. The second unit of archers shoots at the Bugman's and kills two of Joe's rangers:

Despite being protected behind hard cover, two rangers are killed by the Elven deadly arrows.

On the left flank, the wood riders advances in front of their troops to protect them from ennemy missiles. Sirwendil Silverhead, the army general, and his elven lords, as well as Willowhusk the Treeman, are hidden since the beginning of the battle by an Illusion of Woods spell.

The glade runners shoot at the Dwarf crossbowmen but none of their arrows lands on target, as if they were deflected away by a powerful spell (actually this is the case...). The Elf scouts shout at their comrades, warning them to aim at other targets.

And so do the wood riders: they fire at the Dwarf Troll slayers and kill one of them.

To slow down the Ogres' progression, Imrain Moonhand, the powerful elven wizard, casts a Mystic Mist on the bloodthirsty creatures:

At the same time, Torgaliel Shadowsong, riding his mighty war eagle, launches a Fireball on the remaining organ gun crewmen, killing all of them!

Killed before having the chance to fire a single shot...

The battlefield at the end of turn 1.
