The Battle of East-Loren - Turn 2

Dwarfs - Turn 2

On the right flank, the Dwarf warriors - covered by a screen of two skirmishing units (both protected by the Arrow Invulnerability spell) continue their (slow) progress towards the Elven lines.

On the left flank, the Ogres struggle to get out of the fog:

The Dwarf war machines fire again. The stone thrower aims at massed troops at the edge of the forest:

Three Archers and two Wild Cats are crushed by the massive boulder.

The flame cannon - whose pressure has now reached the appropriate level - fires, aiming at the glade runners...

...but misses its target and (luckily) hits Glam's wardancers behind the scouts:

Three wardancers die charred, and the forest begins to ignite!

The bolt thrower kills one more wood rider:

And the deadly cannon's projectile crosses the ranks of the wood riders and of Yavathol Wolfmantle's wardancers:

One wood rider and three wardancers killed by the cannonball. But if they were not skirmishers, the tally would have been much higher.
All war machines have reached their target and took a heavy toll among the Elven ranks. King Brokk prays Grungni for this success to last for the remainder of the battle...

On the left flank, the Bugman's rangers shoot at the lord's bowmen to avenge their fallen comrades and Azigg the Ogre Shaman launches a second Fireball at the same target. Two Elves are killed (only two remaining):

Wood Elves - Turn 2

The fire caused by the flame cannon consumes the woods. Trapped in the heart of the furnace, the wardancers sustain three more casualties.

On the right flank, the war eagles fly over and attack one of the fire throwers and Prince Ulther's Dragon Company, killing one Dwarf crewman and one warrior. The Dwarfs riposte but fail to hit the flying creatures.

The right elven flank continues its progression towards the dwarven lines. Hazelfern doesn't like fire very much and Azigg the Shaman is an expert in that domain. So the Treeman decides to avenge the fallen lord's bowmen and charges the Ogre.

Azigg is no match for the furious Treeman and is brutally slaughtered in a single round.
The Elven missile units aim at the Dwarven war machines crew to reduce their firepower. The wood riders shoot at the cannon crew but fail to cause any wound. The glade runners kill two of the flame cannon crew. With only one remaining, its rate of fire will be considerably reduced.

Skarloc's guards aim at the Ogre mercenaries they see to reduce their numbers before they leave the mystic mist and Skarloc even uses a Hail of Doom arrow. Despite the fact that many arrows hit their target, none can pierce the Ogres' thick skin.

A unit of archers causes another casualty in the Bugman's ranks:

Then, the Elven wizards cast spells. Imraina Moonhand tries to cast Enfeeble (reinforced +1) on the Ogres but they resist. Lorindel Whistlewind casts Steadfast on the unit he is accompaying (the Elven lords), in prevision of the combat to come.
Ralgaliel Shadowsong tries to cast Wind Blast on the stone thrower crew but fails due to its limited magical energy.
Kroashk The Subtle, the Zoat wizard launches a Lignthing Bolt on the skirmisher crossbowmen unit and kills one Dwarf:

The battlefield at the end of turn 2.
